Let’s face it, all of us – from writers to designers and those in-between – suffer creative block from time to time. How does one deal with it? There are all kinds of tips and tricks available and if you try some of the ones below, you’ll be on your way in no time to getting back to the business of content creation. Exercise the body and not the mind
Taking a walk outside, going for a jog, bicycling – anything to clear your mind and refresh your body, could be all you need to creatively recharge.
Take a coffee break
Get up and get out of your desk or studio. Sometimes a change of scenery will give you a much need mental break.
Read a book or magazine
Perhaps a little inspiration may be in order or a distraction with someone else’s voice or viewpoint may be in order.
Switch mediums
Painting with oils? Try drawing with pencils. Working on a computer? Try creating something using traditional media. Perhaps this will loosen a few cogs and help you discover a new way of doing things.
Doodle, sketch, draw
Doodling will distract your mind and hand while you unblock creatively. It doesn’t have to be anything sophisticated and is a great way of to let off some creative steam.
Kowabunga dude…hang ten on the internet
Do some web surfing. Entertain yourself or learn a new trick/technique on the internet. With such a vast ocean of subject matter, material and other like minded souls, you’re bound to find something to inspire you.
Call a friend, talk to a coworker
Take your mind off of your project for a little bit. Talk about other things unrelated to it. This may lead to the discovery of a new way to tackle your creative block.
Brainstorming
Get together with a friend, a coworker or others. Bounce ideas off of one another. Another view point can often be refreshing and be the spark that you need.
Get out and explore the world
Go to a museum. Get out in nature. Go to a bookstore. There is so much out there to be discovered.
